It was a spontaneous day during the February half term and my small little local cinema was hosting family films on the weekend. I had a busy week filming for a client and editing so I wanted to go out and do something to make the most of my days off. So when me and my friend saw that Shrek was going to be played in the cinemas we immediately said yes no hesitations about it whatsoever. It was great to see such an old time classic of a movie that came out in 2001 still holds up so well to this day, 20 years later! The animation was smooth, nothing felt old or out of place, the storytelling was at a good pace, else well, learning about all the key characters in the movie. I think the last time I saw Shrek was on TV one time for Christmas or some sort of holiday but the fact that I now picked up on the adult jokes made it that much more fun to watch. Moreover, not many people went to watch the movie so it felt like we were watching it at home just on a bigger screen and better sound experience. We were in the middle back row just talking to ourselves while the movie was playing. Also, after watching it made me realise how much of the movie I remember off the back of my head, saying all the quotes and key scenes word to word.
